Sea Research Society is planning an expedition with the research vessel Urraca.

The Society’s “2010 Caribbean Expedition” will start out on the Pacific coast of Panama, go through the Panama canal and check out some wrecks in the western Caribbean. It isn’t firm yet, but plans are for part of the project to involve a training program with ROVs (remotely operated vehicles). The vessel was formerly owned by the Smithsonian and used as part of its Caribbean Research Institute. It comfortably sleeps 16 people. Typically we plan for a crew/staff of six to ten people made up of a captain, first-mate, engineer, cook, archaeologists, photographers, and/or scientists, with the balance being students and/or volunteers.
